November 22, 2010

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was quite an eventful weekend for me. We had our first snowfall of the year two weekends ago and it has only gotten colder from there. Mike and I were at a friends Birthday party on Saturday night when the roads froze over. While driving home you couldn’t go a mile without seeing a car either in a ditch or left on the side of the road. That was how bad it was! Luckily for us, we made it home in one piece.  Brrr…It definitely feels like Christmas is right around the corner and as promised I am doing a Holiday Gift Guide of my own picks for the perfect gifts for everyone in your life. Well maybe not everyone….

Over the following weeks leading up to Christmas I will be posting many other “Holiday Gift Guides” which will feature gifts grouped by subject, such as this one “Glamour Girl”. These items are all of my favorite picks for that girl in your life who is into fashion, beauty and just love glamorous things! I tried to include a range of items with different price points to make it easier to shop. Also be on the lookout for my  “Holiday Gift Guide:  $25 and under” featuring lots of products that I think you’re going to love! I hope you all enjoy this and check back soon for more “Holiday Gift Guides”.

Products from left to right:

I won’t deny that several, if not all of these item are on my own Christmas wish list. I mean who wouldn’t love to have that fabulous sparkling clutch on their shoulders while out at a Holiday party or that lovely necklace shining around their decolletage paired with that perfect little black dress. Did I mention that the Juicy Couture cocktail ring doubles as solid perfume holder? Just dab a little bit on our neck and wrist and you will feel and smell glamorous, very couture couture indeed. Any girl would will feel so special to be able to wear the seasons hottest colors on their nails or that adorable bracelet on their wrist. I especially adore the Tocca perfume set. It includes two of my favorite scents, Stella and Florence. Have you smelled these fragrances yet? They are so lovely and light. Tocca has several different kinds and I want to own all of them!! And what glamour girl would be without a great essential makeup brush set, like this Bobbi Brown one. Just perfect for travel or to carry with you everyday. And I know you are definitely eyeing that Marc Jacobs wallet for yourself. It is one of the  chicest wallet I’ve ever seen. I am in love with the gold clasp and the embossed logo on the lambskin. Tres chic!

Have a lovely Monday!

Sephora Friends & Family Haul + Other Beauty Purchases

Sephora Friends & Family

One of my favorite beauty stores Sephora was having a Friends & Family sale the other week and I was able to pick out some goodies online. I was waiting very impatiently for my package to arrive and am very excited to share it with you! Since I just stocked up recently on makeup from Burberry (which I am still LOVING!), I didn’t really go crazy and order a lot of things. Instead I picked out some things that I’ve been wanting for awhile.

This is what I ordered:

NOTE: I won’t be adding pics of the Stila Travel Palette in this post because I will include it in a separate post.

And Samples of:

  • Pucci Sole 149 Eau de Toilette
  • Prada L’Eau Ambree Eau de Parfum
  • Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum Spray

Juicy Couture “Couture Couture”

If you don’t know already I previously purchased the Juicy Couture “Couture Couture” Eau de Parfum Roll On earlier this Summer (You can see the post Here), and absolutely love it. So when I found out that Sephora was having a F&F sale, I figured it was a good time to finally get it. I’ve been using my Chloe Eau de Parfum every day now and am running low on that, so I will need to pick another bottle in the coming months.

Dior “DiorShow All For Your Eyes”

I needed some new mascara so I picked up this DiorShow box, which comes with DiorShow mascara in Black,  a mini Duo Express Instant Eye Makeup Remover and a mini Crayon Eyeliner in Black. All for $24, the same price as the DiorShow mascara itself plus 20% off, such a great deal! I also bought this kit because I wanted to try out the Crayon Eyeliner, which I tried for the first time when I got my 1920s Halloween makeover.

Essie’s Smokin’ Hot & Luxedo

Both of these colors are from Essie’s Winter Collection. I bought these because they reminded me of a few OPI colors and wanted to see how they compare. Essie’s “Smokin’ Hot” reminds me of OPI’s “You Don’t Know Jacques” and “Luxedo” reminds me of OPI’s “Lincoln Park After Dark” and “William Tell Me About OPI”. I haven’t tried them out yet, but I will do a post when I do. I think I want to get Essie’s “Masquerade belle” too. Have you guys tried any colors from Essie’s Winter Collection? Which one is your favorite?

Burberry “The Beat”

I purchased this about a month ago, but haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. I’ve heard great things about it and think it would be fun and something different for me. A departure from my usual floral scents.

I like trying out new fragrances and really love Chloe and Juicy Couture “Couture Couture” . What is your favorite? I am also working on some Holiday Gift Guide posts that I am very excited to put up. Look out for them soon!

In love with Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway has always been one of my all time favorite female actresses (the others include Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman, Rachel McAdams and Jessica Garner). I feel that she along with all the other women are not only truly talented actresses, but they are also elegant, feminine, fun, and also inspiring, not to mention stunningly beautiful individuals. It is refreshing to see females like these who are famous for their talents, hard work and charitable acts rather then for something like partying. I have enjoyed watching Anne when she first starred in “The Princess Diaries” along with the more recent “Valentine’s Day”.

I just loved her character in “Valentine’s Day”. I found her charming and funny as always. Anne also does a wonderful job picking fun and different roles to play. I think her more dramatic roles are wonderful too like “Rachel Getting Married” and “Becoming Jane”, but I like her best when she does more light hearted roles where her charisma and charm really shines through, along with her great sense of humor and wittiness.

This month Anne is featured on the cover of VOGUE looking oh so beautiful and glamorous. The first photo is just stunning. Here are some more photos from the Paris photo shoot. I am in love with every one of them. She describes the shoot with Mario Testino as : It’s Holly Golightly meets Marge Simpson….It was true glamour. Not just the clothes and the jewels but the feeling that glamour can produce in you, which is like a dream.”

Here is a behind the scenes look of the VOGUE photo shoot where Anne talks about the shoot and her new movie “Love and Other Drugs” with my favorite, Jake Gyllenhaal. I just love seeing all the beautiful dresses and jewelry as well as the production that goes into setting up each shot. It looks like so much fun and she looks like she is having a good time. I mean of course she is! She is in Paris!

Love & Other Drugs

If you have not seen the trailer for it yet, you should definitely check it out. I think it is going to be a very sweet movie. The two of them look like they would be a great couple onscreen. I can’t wait to watch it.  Something to take your guy with or better yet your girlfriends! It is in theaters starting November 24th.

Chic Shoes From Ann Taylor

Hope you are having a wonderful week! I thought it would be fun to do a post to help get you through the work week and what can be more fun then shoes! Have you checked out these lovely pumps and boots from Ann Taylor? They are just too gorgeous to resist. Enjoy!

The pumps shown above are called the “Perfect Covered Platform“. They are so chic. I normally don’t like animal print shoes, but these are so beautiful. Just perfectly paired with that LBD.

Maya Tweed Platform Pump (Just Added)

These Tweed pumps are my favorite! I’ve never seen any shoes as ladylike as these. The chain detail just adds that little bit of something without making it look too busy. Just the right juxtaposition to the feminine tweed material. I originally saw these in a magazine a couple of weeks ago, which is what inspired me to do this Ann Taylor post, but they were not available online when I originally posted this. I am so glad they have it now! Wouldn’t these be amazing with a simple black dress, black pencil skirt or dress pants? They are sexy with out being too much for work I feel.

Abbey Lace Pump

These are the most beautiful and feminine pair of pumps.Very sexy, but subtle enough to also wear to the office.

Sofie Spectator Pump

I just adore these tuxedo inspired pumps. Aren’t they lovely? I think they would be perfect to wear to work.

Megan T-Strap Peeptoe Platform Pump

Another great pair of pumps to wear to work. I think these are very Madmen and would look great with a pencil skirt.

Lace Bootie

Aren’t these the most glamorous booties you’ve ever seen? They would look great especially with a cute dress for a nice evening out.

Pilar High Heel Bootie

There are unlimited possibilities for these booties. I would wear these with a cute dress and some leggings,  a skirt and a top, or even with skinny jeans. I really like the little buttons on them too. It gives a dressier look.

I almost forgot to mention that I received my Sephora online purchase in the mail today from their Friends & Family Sale last week. I will be doing a haul soon for it!

Lusting after: Chanel Sunglasses

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was a beautiful Fall weekend for me. I did a little shopping, met friends for Sushi Friday night, and even got a little done around the house. Is it just me or did you feel really bombarded with the Christmas commercials, decorations and ads everywhere you went this weekend? It certainly does not feel like Christmas is close, BUT Thanksgiving is only two weeks away. Once Black Friday is upon us, everything is a blur and the next thing you know Christmas is five days away and you have over half of your Christmas list to shop for. Oh how I love Christmas, but loathe shopping for everyone. It’s not that I don’t like to shop or that I don’t like to buy things for my friends or family. It’s just that I like to take my time picking out just the right thing for each person and I definitely can’t do that when I am on a time crunch. Can you relate to me? Each year I try to tell myself I will start shopping earlier, but I’m such a procrastinator that it never works out. And if I happen to try to shop earlier I always find more cute things for myself then for others. I think it would be a fun idea to do a few posts on fun Christmas gift ideas. Maybe that will help me find things for everyone on my list and yours as wells! Are you a procrastinator Christmas shopper like me or are you pretty good with shopping early? Any tips on how to find unique and fun gifts would be great!

Well enough rambling for now. I want to tell you what I am crushing on hard currently. I am completely OBSESSED with these two pairs of Chanel sunnies and they are definitely going on my Christmas wishlist. They are both so gorgeous in their own way and I can’t decide which ones I love more. The first one is Chanel 5171, pictured on the model above. The bow is just so adorable. I know these have been around for awhile and I have seen them on other bloggers and Youtube makeup gurus. I have two other pairs of Chanel sunglasses, one from about four years ago and another from maybe two years ago, so I think its about time I update my collection. The one thing that is disappointing about my previous Chanel sunglasses is that they are not big enough for me. I personally prefer big sunglasses that cover my eyebrows even and I think either of these will definitely fit the bill.

Chanel 5171

So cute right? Just the perfect pair of chic black sunnies. I especially love the little cc’s on the edge of the bow. I believe they are Swarovskis crystals. I am in LOVE!!

The other pair is Chanel’s 5182. They are very different from the 5171, which are more square and these are round. Think of them as larger Rayban Wayfarers, which I love!

Chanel 5182

Here they are on a favorite blogger and youtube guru Lollipop 26. Don’t they look AMAZING?!?!

And look at how cute these are on the inside!!! I heart these so much.

It’s going to be so hard to choose between the two. I love them both. I guess it ultimately comes down to me going to the store and trying these two bad boys on myself. Which ones do you like better?

Pretty little charms

This post is a little late, but here it is as promised. I really didn’t do any shopping aside from the Burberry makeup while in Chicago, so I was a little disappointed since I had been saving up for awhile for a little splurge. I was considering purchasing a new handbag since I had my current one for awhile now and an over the shoulder bag would be a nice change. So when I went into my local Louis Vuitton to try out a few styles I have had my eyes on for a few months now, I found out that everything was sold out. Needless to say I didn’t walk away with the bag I wanted, but I did happen to stumble upon this special little something. I have to admit that this wasn’t planned, but I have never been more happy with a purchase. Just looking at it right now while I am writing this post puts a very big smile on my face. Well I have been keeping you in suspense for long enough. Here it is!

Louis Vuitton Pretty Charms Key holder

Gorgeous right? These bag charms are meant to be used a key chain or  hooked onto the handles of your bag, but they also look really cute on just like a charm bracelet. I just adore each little charm. They are so delicate and adorable. It’s not the most practical of purchases, but it makes me love my bag even more then I already did before. I also think they will look great with whichever bag I decide to get in the future.

Here is what they look like on my bag.

I think they look amazing against the Damier Ebene print and adds a fun pop of color to my bag. LV also has a few other styles of bag charms too that are very adorable, but I fell in love with this particular one. I also think that the size of the charms goes perfect with the size of my bag. I really like this bag charm too, but I found the charms way to big.

Looping Chain Key Ring

Last photo I promise!

How about you? Any recent splurges or fun purchases?

Halloween Festivities

I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween. I know I did!  This year Mike and I attended a costume party at our friends house and we had so much fun.  I always enjoy dressing up each year and this Halloween was no exception. It always takes Mike and I forever to figure out what we want our costumes to be each year, but once we decide on a fun non-corny couple idea to go with we get really into it and always go all out. Mike is always game for whatever I want to do, but it I always want to make sure he loves his costume as much as I love mine. That’s one great thing about him, he doesn’t mind being silly and dressing up. The difficult thing for me is that I don’t want to just walk into a Halloween shop and pick up a costume every other girl is also wearing. I like to be creative and somewhat make it my own.

This year we decided a whole three weeks before Halloween (this is good for us!), that we wanted to be a 1920’s couple, he was a British Statesmen and I was a Flapper girl. It really didn’t take us long at all to put our costumes together, but we love props and accessories, so we spent the final day before Halloween picking up last minute things. Like sideburns and a corn pipe for Mike and the right shade of lipstick, along with false lashes for me.

The Dapper Statesmen

I think I had more fun this year than any other getting ready. This is partially because at the very last minute I thought it would be fun to get my makeup done. I stopped by the Dior makeup counter at my local Macy’s and this awesome makeup artist gave me a whole 1920’s makeover. Not only was she the sweetest gal every, but she did an amazing job as well! She didn’t know what a Flapper was suppose to look like, but once I showed her some inspirational photos on my phone, she went to work giving me the most amazing smokey dramatic eyes as well as flawless skin and sultry dark lips. After my makeover I headed over to my friends house to finish getting ready there. One of my friends is a hairstylist and when I told her a couple weeks before that I wanted to be a Flapper, she got so excited and told me she wanted to do my hair for me. The idea was to do finger wave curls, but she also did her own little spin on it. I think she did beautiful job and I was very happy with my hair.

Mike and I spent the evening chatting with our friends as well as making new ones. We took lots of photos and danced the night away. It was a wonderful evening. Do you guys like to dress up for Halloween also? I love seeing what everyone dress up as. It is a fun and interesting conversation starter. One of my favorite costumes of the evening (besides my own) was a mime couple. They we dressed in black and white striped long tees, black pants for him and shorts for her with suspenders and berets. Their face was painted white and she also had a tiny heart painted on her cheeks and pig tails. So cute!
