Happy Friday! Have you seen the latest Missoni Spring 2011 ads yet? Among the Missoni family featured in the ads are also some of their friends and Leighton Meester. Leighton looks beautiful as ever in the ads. The shot seems very playful and quirky. The clothes and background has a vintage and boho feel to it. What do you think?

Bon week-end!

PANTONE Fashion Color Report Spring 2011

I hope you are all having a lovely January! I wanted to share with you the PANTONE Fashion Color Report for Spring 2011. I know that this has been released for awhile now, but I wanted to post it closer to Spring, for those of you who have not seen it yet. I thought that this would brighten up your day and give you something to look forward to during the long winter days.

For those of you who do not know, PANTONE is the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries. Each season, PANTONE surveys the designer of New York Fashion Week and more to find out what colors are prominent in their collections, their color inspiration as well as color philosophy. From this PANTONE creates their Fashion Color Report, which is used as a very important reference tool throughout the year for fashion enthusiasts, reporters, buyers and retailers.

For this Spring 2011, the top 10 colors are:

  1. Honeysuckle
  2. Coral Rose
  3. Beeswax
  4. Regatta
  5. Lavender
  6. Blue Curacao
  7. Peapod
  8. Silver Peony
  9. Russet
  10. Silver Cloud

Some interesting things to note about the Spring Color Report (quotes from

“The colors designers have chosen for the spring season present an interesting marriage of unexpected warm and cool tones,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “By cleverly combining complementary colors, those that are opposites on the color wheel, they have created a striking intensity in the palette. These unique color combinations make it possible for consumers to pair existing pieces in colors traditionally associated with fall, with new favorites to punch up springtime wardrobes.”  (So you can easily mix pieces you currently own in your closet with some new pieces and accessories in your new favorite colors to create completely new looks for Spring without having to buy a whole new wardrobe.)

Citing exotic destinations like Africa, India, Peru and Turkey as inspiration for spring 2011, designers continue to satisfy consumers’ need to escape everyday challenges with intriguing color combinations that transport them to foreign lands.

Flirtatious Honeysuckle is a feel-good hue that brings a festive sense of playfulness to this season’s palette. This vibrant pinkish-red for both apparel and cosmetics makes consumers feel alive, and is a perfect post-winter pick-me-up.

Spicy, gregarious and persuasive describe Coral Rose, a sophisticated orange that, much like Beeswax, a warm, honeyed yellow, conjures up feelings of faraway lands and locales. Pair either of these piquant hues with a cool, refreshing color-wheel opposite like Regatta for a vibrant color combination that will add zest to any wardrobe. Romantic, fanciful Lavender implies sensuality with its subtle hint of red undertone. Combine it with Beeswax or Coral Rose for a unique counterpoint.

Alluring Blue Curacao evokes thoughts of tropical destinations and pays homage to the 2010 Color of the Year, Turquoise. Practical consumers can continue to incorporate enticing Caribbean blues into spring by pairing Blue Curacao with warm, complementary colors like Honeysuckle or Coral Rose. Peapod, a fresh yellow-green, brings an organic element to the palette and is reminiscent of the green shoots that signify change and new beginnings traditionally found in spring.

Trans-seasonal neutrals ground this season’s palette and provide a stable backdrop for all of the other colors. The so-called “nude hues” are represented in the range of ethereal Silver Peony to dramatically deep Russet. Another dependable background color, Silver Cloud, is the quintessential neutral that consumers can rely on to coordinate with everything in their closet.
Also the PANTONE 2011 Color of the Year is…Honeysuckle!

Honeysuckle is a courageous, confident, and vital new color. It is encouraging and uplifting, emboldening us to face everyday trouble with confidence and vigor.

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Eiseman continues, “The intensity of this festive reddish pink allures and engages. In fact, this color, not the sweet fragrance of the flower blossoms for which it was named, is what attracts hummingbirds to nectar. Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer.”

It’s a striking, eye-catching hue that works well for day and night in women’s apparel, accessories and cosmetics, and in men’s ties, shirts and sportswear. Add a lively flair to interior spaces with Honeysuckle patterned pillows, bedspreads, small appliances and tabletop accessories. Looking for an inexpensive way to perk up your home? Paint a wall in Honeysuckle for a dynamic burst of energy in the family room, kitchen or hallway.

Honeysuckle always works with the standard basics of black, navy, charcoal or light to mid gray. But using complementary bronze greens like Willow PANTONE 16-0632 and/or Tapenade PANTONE 18-0840 adds a new sophistication to the combination that showcases the energy of Honeysuckle. The green tones can be really interesting in accessories for Honeysuckle tights and top. Another great and unique combination is Honeysuckle with a pinkish brown like Apricot Brandy PANTONE 17-1540. Think of a warm cashmere turtleneck in Apricot Brandy with a matching skirt and shoes to blend and flatter the legs. A Honeysuckle cashmere scarf and belt create a luscious combination. And to blend all the colors, try a big and bold patterned bag with every color mentioned above.

So what do you think? Are you liking the new colors for Spring? I’m already starting to see a lot of the colors in stores. I’ve always been more into blues and grays then pink, so I naturally like the Blue Curacao, Regatta, and Silver Cloud. But I also love the Silver Peony and Lavender as well as the Honeysuckle. I think the Honeysuckle and Lavender would be great accent pieces and accessories like scarves, jewelry, makeup and nail polishes. I would definitely like to accent my home for Spring with new pieces with these colors. I don’t think these colors are very innovative for Spring. They are normal pastel pinks, yellows, lavender and light blue I think of when I think of Spring or Easter, but I am interested to see what the Designers and Retailers do to give it a new look and feel. What do you think? Are there any colors you really like? What do you think about Honeysuckle being the Color of the Year? Will you be rocking this color come Spring? Let me know!

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday with all of your friends and family! As you can probably tell from my absence these past couple weeks, I have had a very busy Christmas as usual and on top of that I caught an awful bug. I was sick for a couple of days following Christmas. It was awful! I am doing better now and am back to work! It is amazing how fast the holidays always fly by and now New Years is just a couple days away!

For Christmas this year we threw a fete the weekend before Christmas for all of our friends. It was so much fun to be able to catch up with all of our friends before the craziness of the Holidays since we are all so busy with our families. Last year we had both a Christmas and New Year’s Party, but I think we want to take it easy this year and do something different. That same weekend I took my sisters and cousins to Minneapolis “Holidazzle Parade” as well as the Macy’s Annual “A Day in the Life of an Elf” animated walk through display. Macy’s has it every year and I have been taking my sisters ever since I can remember. It is a lot of fun and has become a Christmas tradition of ours.

As Mike and I spend each new Christmas together we learned how to better blend our Christmas with each of our family together. Well, its not so much a matter of blending, but a matter of time management. As hectic as it can be we somehow make it work and I still believe next year will be better then the last. And that is probably what makes it go by so fast. We have so much scheduled on Christmas Eve that it’s a miracle that we make it to our destination, much less make it there on time. So as we are rushing and stressing about making it to each event on time, the day just pass us by and next thing we know we are home, passed out in bed. That’s our Christmas for you. Exhausting to say the least, but also very fun and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Well I hope you had a less hectic, but equally wonderful Holiday! I have some fun Holiday pictures to post, but haven’t gotten around to uploading them yet. I am just slowly getting back into the swing of things. In the mean time enjoy this pretty little New Year’s Eve look I put together! Do you see yourself toasting to the New Year in this beautiful J.Crew ensemble? I love everything about it from the beautiful sweetheart neckline, to the bustier bodice and the beautiful plum color. Just darling! I’ve also added a few pretty baubles to make the look more glamorous and sparkly! Perfect for New Years don’t you think? To top the look off I think this YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in # 7 Le Fuchsia is going to make your lips pop.

Lovely Little bows

As you may have noticed, I’ve been working extra hard lately on my blog posts. I kinda of  felt bad that I slacked a little bit the week before. I have been planning on doing those “Holiday Gift Guides” ever since November, (here is the link to the “Glamour Girl“, “For Him“, and “$25 and under“). So I am working twice as hard this week to finish all my “Holiday Gift Guides”, so that I can share all my great gift ideas with you guys in time for the Holidays.

This post is not quite a “Holiday Gift Guide”, but it can definitely be used as one. It is just something that I really love, bows and I thought it deserved a posts of its own. I just adore things adorned with a bow and these are just some things that are too sweet and pretty not share with you guys. So I hope you like it! And if you love bows as much as I do, take a peek at my “Holiday Party Looks Part 2” that is inspired by a very pretty dress that may or may not have a bow on it.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was quite an eventful weekend for me. We had our first snowfall of the year two weekends ago and it has only gotten colder from there. Mike and I were at a friends Birthday party on Saturday night when the roads froze over. While driving home you couldn’t go a mile without seeing a car either in a ditch or left on the side of the road. That was how bad it was! Luckily for us, we made it home in one piece.  Brrr…It definitely feels like Christmas is right around the corner and as promised I am doing a Holiday Gift Guide of my own picks for the perfect gifts for everyone in your life. Well maybe not everyone….

Over the following weeks leading up to Christmas I will be posting many other “Holiday Gift Guides” which will feature gifts grouped by subject, such as this one “Glamour Girl”. These items are all of my favorite picks for that girl in your life who is into fashion, beauty and just love glamorous things! I tried to include a range of items with different price points to make it easier to shop. Also be on the lookout for my  “Holiday Gift Guide:  $25 and under” featuring lots of products that I think you’re going to love! I hope you all enjoy this and check back soon for more “Holiday Gift Guides”.

Products from left to right:

I won’t deny that several, if not all of these item are on my own Christmas wish list. I mean who wouldn’t love to have that fabulous sparkling clutch on their shoulders while out at a Holiday party or that lovely necklace shining around their decolletage paired with that perfect little black dress. Did I mention that the Juicy Couture cocktail ring doubles as solid perfume holder? Just dab a little bit on our neck and wrist and you will feel and smell glamorous, very couture couture indeed. Any girl would will feel so special to be able to wear the seasons hottest colors on their nails or that adorable bracelet on their wrist. I especially adore the Tocca perfume set. It includes two of my favorite scents, Stella and Florence. Have you smelled these fragrances yet? They are so lovely and light. Tocca has several different kinds and I want to own all of them!! And what glamour girl would be without a great essential makeup brush set, like this Bobbi Brown one. Just perfect for travel or to carry with you everyday. And I know you are definitely eyeing that Marc Jacobs wallet for yourself. It is one of the  chicest wallet I’ve ever seen. I am in love with the gold clasp and the embossed logo on the lambskin. Tres chic!

Have a lovely Monday!

Chic Shoes From Ann Taylor

Hope you are having a wonderful week! I thought it would be fun to do a post to help get you through the work week and what can be more fun then shoes! Have you checked out these lovely pumps and boots from Ann Taylor? They are just too gorgeous to resist. Enjoy!

The pumps shown above are called the “Perfect Covered Platform“. They are so chic. I normally don’t like animal print shoes, but these are so beautiful. Just perfectly paired with that LBD.

Maya Tweed Platform Pump (Just Added)

These Tweed pumps are my favorite! I’ve never seen any shoes as ladylike as these. The chain detail just adds that little bit of something without making it look too busy. Just the right juxtaposition to the feminine tweed material. I originally saw these in a magazine a couple of weeks ago, which is what inspired me to do this Ann Taylor post, but they were not available online when I originally posted this. I am so glad they have it now! Wouldn’t these be amazing with a simple black dress, black pencil skirt or dress pants? They are sexy with out being too much for work I feel.

Abbey Lace Pump

These are the most beautiful and feminine pair of pumps.Very sexy, but subtle enough to also wear to the office.

Sofie Spectator Pump

I just adore these tuxedo inspired pumps. Aren’t they lovely? I think they would be perfect to wear to work.

Megan T-Strap Peeptoe Platform Pump

Another great pair of pumps to wear to work. I think these are very Madmen and would look great with a pencil skirt.

Lace Bootie

Aren’t these the most glamorous booties you’ve ever seen? They would look great especially with a cute dress for a nice evening out.

Pilar High Heel Bootie

There are unlimited possibilities for these booties. I would wear these with a cute dress and some leggings,  a skirt and a top, or even with skinny jeans. I really like the little buttons on them too. It gives a dressier look.

I almost forgot to mention that I received my Sephora online purchase in the mail today from their Friends & Family Sale last week. I will be doing a haul soon for it!

Lusting after: Chanel Sunglasses

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was a beautiful Fall weekend for me. I did a little shopping, met friends for Sushi Friday night, and even got a little done around the house. Is it just me or did you feel really bombarded with the Christmas commercials, decorations and ads everywhere you went this weekend? It certainly does not feel like Christmas is close, BUT Thanksgiving is only two weeks away. Once Black Friday is upon us, everything is a blur and the next thing you know Christmas is five days away and you have over half of your Christmas list to shop for. Oh how I love Christmas, but loathe shopping for everyone. It’s not that I don’t like to shop or that I don’t like to buy things for my friends or family. It’s just that I like to take my time picking out just the right thing for each person and I definitely can’t do that when I am on a time crunch. Can you relate to me? Each year I try to tell myself I will start shopping earlier, but I’m such a procrastinator that it never works out. And if I happen to try to shop earlier I always find more cute things for myself then for others. I think it would be a fun idea to do a few posts on fun Christmas gift ideas. Maybe that will help me find things for everyone on my list and yours as wells! Are you a procrastinator Christmas shopper like me or are you pretty good with shopping early? Any tips on how to find unique and fun gifts would be great!

Well enough rambling for now. I want to tell you what I am crushing on hard currently. I am completely OBSESSED with these two pairs of Chanel sunnies and they are definitely going on my Christmas wishlist. They are both so gorgeous in their own way and I can’t decide which ones I love more. The first one is Chanel 5171, pictured on the model above. The bow is just so adorable. I know these have been around for awhile and I have seen them on other bloggers and Youtube makeup gurus. I have two other pairs of Chanel sunglasses, one from about four years ago and another from maybe two years ago, so I think its about time I update my collection. The one thing that is disappointing about my previous Chanel sunglasses is that they are not big enough for me. I personally prefer big sunglasses that cover my eyebrows even and I think either of these will definitely fit the bill.

Chanel 5171

So cute right? Just the perfect pair of chic black sunnies. I especially love the little cc’s on the edge of the bow. I believe they are Swarovskis crystals. I am in LOVE!!

The other pair is Chanel’s 5182. They are very different from the 5171, which are more square and these are round. Think of them as larger Rayban Wayfarers, which I love!

Chanel 5182

Here they are on a favorite blogger and youtube guru Lollipop 26. Don’t they look AMAZING?!?!

And look at how cute these are on the inside!!! I heart these so much.

It’s going to be so hard to choose between the two. I love them both. I guess it ultimately comes down to me going to the store and trying these two bad boys on myself. Which ones do you like better?
