Sephora Friends & Family Haul + Other Beauty Purchases

Sephora Friends & Family

One of my favorite beauty stores Sephora was having a Friends & Family sale the other week and I was able to pick out some goodies online. I was waiting very impatiently for my package to arrive and am very excited to share it with you! Since I just stocked up recently on makeup from Burberry (which I am still LOVING!), I didn’t really go crazy and order a lot of things. Instead I picked out some things that I’ve been wanting for awhile.

This is what I ordered:

NOTE: I won’t be adding pics of the Stila Travel Palette in this post because I will include it in a separate post.

And Samples of:

  • Pucci Sole 149 Eau de Toilette
  • Prada L’Eau Ambree Eau de Parfum
  • Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum Spray

Juicy Couture “Couture Couture”

If you don’t know already I previously purchased the Juicy Couture “Couture Couture” Eau de Parfum Roll On earlier this Summer (You can see the post Here), and absolutely love it. So when I found out that Sephora was having a F&F sale, I figured it was a good time to finally get it. I’ve been using my Chloe Eau de Parfum every day now and am running low on that, so I will need to pick another bottle in the coming months.

Dior “DiorShow All For Your Eyes”

I needed some new mascara so I picked up this DiorShow box, which comes with DiorShow mascara in Black,  a mini Duo Express Instant Eye Makeup Remover and a mini Crayon Eyeliner in Black. All for $24, the same price as the DiorShow mascara itself plus 20% off, such a great deal! I also bought this kit because I wanted to try out the Crayon Eyeliner, which I tried for the first time when I got my 1920s Halloween makeover.

Essie’s Smokin’ Hot & Luxedo

Both of these colors are from Essie’s Winter Collection. I bought these because they reminded me of a few OPI colors and wanted to see how they compare. Essie’s “Smokin’ Hot” reminds me of OPI’s “You Don’t Know Jacques” and “Luxedo” reminds me of OPI’s “Lincoln Park After Dark” and “William Tell Me About OPI”. I haven’t tried them out yet, but I will do a post when I do. I think I want to get Essie’s “Masquerade belle” too. Have you guys tried any colors from Essie’s Winter Collection? Which one is your favorite?

Burberry “The Beat”

I purchased this about a month ago, but haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. I’ve heard great things about it and think it would be fun and something different for me. A departure from my usual floral scents.

I like trying out new fragrances and really love Chloe and Juicy Couture “Couture Couture” . What is your favorite? I am also working on some Holiday Gift Guide posts that I am very excited to put up. Look out for them soon!

Burberry Beauty

I have been a big fan of Burberry for years and when I heard that the company was debuting a Beauty line in July, I couldn’t wait to check it out. The collection is available at Nordstroms and Burberry stores, but unfortunately for me I live in one of the states that does not carry the line (not even in the Burberry store). As much as I wanted some of the products I couldn’t bring myself to just order them online in case I didn’t like any of it, so I put off purchasing them. Luckily for me I was able to take a quick trip to Chicago this past weekend and got to see the whole collection in person.

I went to the Nordstrom off of Michigan Avenue and got a little make over from a sales associate for Burberry. The sales associate was really helpful and did a great job. Whenever I get a makeover at a department store I always leave hating everything they put on me. It is probably because I really like natural looking makeup and where ever I go they always put way too much on and make me look like a clown. That was definitely not the case at Burberry. I loved everything I tried on and the sales person was amazing at picking out what would look good on me!

I think I instantly gravitated towards their beauty line because I know that the Burberry look has always been very natural and the new beauty ads really showed that. I love their peachy cheeks and rosy lips!

The Burberry beauty collection includes 96 products ranging from:

Foundation, Pressed Powder, and Compact Foundation

Blush and Bronzer

Lipstick, Lip Gloss, and Lip Pencil

Eye Shadow, Mascara, and Eye Pencil

I went to Nordstrom prepared with a list of products that I wanted to try after doing some research online and watching reviews on youtube. A really good review I found for Burberry cosmetics is from a beauty guru name REAview. I always enjoy watching her reviews and tutorials. She does great reviews of products with a lot of good information and I like her taste in cosmetics. She also has similar skin tone to mine so it is easy to see if something would look good on me or not. After watching her Burberry beauty review, I knew I that I would love the products.

My original list included:

  1. The ‘Light Glow’ Natural Blush in No. 02 Cameo or No. 04 Peony – $42
  2. The ‘Lip Cover’ Soft Satin Lipstick in No. 02 Cameo or No. 08 Tea Rose – $30
  3. The ‘Lip Glow’ Natural Lip Gloss in No. 07 Cameo Pink or No. 04 Blush – $27
  4. Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation in Trench No. 05 – $52

And I ended up getting:

  1. The ‘Light Glow’ Natural Blush in No. 04 Peony
  2. The ‘Lip Cover’ Soft Satin Lipstick in No. 02 Cameo
  3. The ‘Lip Glow’ Natural Lip Gloss in No. 10 Nutmeg
  4. Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation in Trench No. 05

My Purchase:

Nordstrom was having a beauty event going on the time I was there, so I got a cute little canvas bag with my purchase, along with some extra samples of the lipstick and foundation.

Me playing around with the camera

The ‘Light Glow’ Natural Blush in No. 04 Peony

This blush is so pretty on. It is a very natural light shade of rosy pink. It is very pigmented so you only need a swipe or two with your brush to get a good amount of color on your cheeks. The case is a really nice metal-like material with a gun-metal color with the Burberry signature check on it. The blush case also has a magnetic closure, something very unique with cosmetic cases I’ve never seen before. It also comes with a cloth pouch with Burberry check print if you can see in the photo to the left of the case.

The ‘Lip Cover’ Soft Satin Lipstick in No. 02 Cameo

I don’t usually wear lipstick, but I really love this shade. It is a light peachy pink, just the way I like my lip glosses. It is made with the same material as the blush case and also has a magnetic closure, so the lid snaps into and aligns with the bottom of the lipstick case. The lipstick itself is very creamy and smells wonderful. Like a mixture of rose petals and lavender. I just love it!

Info from the Nordstrom website:

Formula: Super-light ‘second skin’ texture provides intense moisture immediately after application. Combination of oils and light waxes helps easy application and extreme comfort.

Protection: Contains anti-aging ceramides for fuller lips. Guarantees continuous hydration. Contains UV filters to protect from damaging environmental exposure.

The ‘Lip Glow’ Natural Lip Gloss in No. 10 Nutmeg

I originally wanted the ‘Lip Glow’ in No. 07 Cameo Pink or No. 04 Blush, but I loved the way the Nutmeg color looked on top of the Cameo ‘Lip Cover’ so much that I went with it instead. The sales person was the one who suggested it to me and I am so happy that they did. The ‘Lip Glow’ has a similar texture and consistency as my favorite lip gloss, Chanel’s Glossimer. Very creamy and not sticky like other lip glosses. The ‘Lip Glow’ also has a similar scent as the ‘Lip Cover’.  I think this is my next go to lip gloss and I would like to try Cameo Pink next.

Formula: A creamy touch and perfectly adherent texture. Light oils and spherical powders give fluidity and comfort.

Benefits: Reflects light to create illusion of plumper, fuller lips. Leaves lips supple, glowing with natural highlights and subtle iconic tones.

Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation in Trench No. 05

I have always hated foundations and have never used it. I always hated how thick and fake it looked on. Maybe it was because I never found the right one, but I really loved to use Tinted Moisturizers instead. I just think it is so much more natural looking then foundations. My favorite ones for the past few years has been Stila Illuiminating Tinted Moisturizer or the Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer, seen here on my Beauty Essentials post. After seeing RAEview’s review and tutorial and hearing her talk about how light the Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation was, I knew it would be perfect for me and something I would be interested in trying. After testing it out in person, I was amazed at not only how little product it took to cover my face, but also how  natural and supple my face looked. I am really happy with this product. The bottle is very nicely made and I really like the pump on it. I got Trench No. 05, the same as RAEview.

I apologize for how long this post got, but hope you found it helpful. I am by no means a beauty expert and don’t know a lot about cosmetics, but these are just some products I really liked and wanted to share with you. Have you tried these products yet or are interested in trying them? Let me know what you think! Are there any new beauty products you have been loving or have your eyes on? I love trying new products! Hope you are having a good week! Look for another post soon about my other fun purchase.

Beauty Essentials

We all have a list of essential  MUST-HAVE makeup in our makeup bag and today I would like to share mine. These are all of my favorite beauty products that I have been using for years and some are new favorites that I recently found. These products are perfect for girls who are on the go like me who don’t like to spend a lot of time getting ready and want to look fresh and pretty all through the day.

My face is not very oily or dry, but I really like how supple and moisturized it feels whenever I wear moisturizer.  I put it on right after I get out of the shower and not only does it keep my face looking fresh throughout the day, but it also helps the rest of my makeup last longer. My favorite one is Clean and Clear Morning Burst Morning Glow Moisturizer. I find that this one in particular is the perfect consistency. It is not too think or oily. It just goes on very lightly and smooth. It instantly brightens my face and makes me feel more awake. I tried the other  Clean and Clear moisturizer called the Deep Action Cream Cleanser, but didn’t like how thick it is and how it dries. Another great thing about this product is that it is SPF 15. I think the MOST important beauty product ever is SUNSCREEN. You can never be too safe when it comes to protecting your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

I wear two different kinds of tinted moisturizer throughout the year. Stila’s Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer w/SPF 15 during the  Spring and Summer and Stila’s Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer w/SPF 15 through Fall and Winter. As you can tell, I’m all about the moisturizer! I prefer the coverage of a tinted moisturizer for everyday wear over that of foundation. For some reason I find that every foundation that I have tried are all too thick and makes my face look like I have 10 pounds of makeup on. Which is not pretty at all. I like to look very natural. Unless I really need thick coverage, like for my wedding day or if I have a lot of blemishes to hide then I would use foundation, but otherwise I just stick to a tinted moisturizer. I think that it gives me just the right amount of coverage and color. It blends in and evens out my skin tone very well.

The Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer is perfect for Summer because it is more lightweight then the Color Tinted Moisturizer. During the hot days of Summer I like to wear the least amount of makeup as necessary. The last thing I want is having my face feel really thick and sticky from heavy makeup. It also has a little shimmer in it that helps brighten up your face. Just perfect for when your out and about in the summer. You don’t want to look like you are wearing a lot of makeup, you just want a nice summer glow! I wear Shade #1 and purchase it from Sephora.

Stila’s Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer is great because it provides me with more coverage and color during the months when I don’t get as much sun exposure, so I am more pale. It helps me imitate my nice summer glow during the cold Fall and Winter days of Minnesota. Before I discovered the Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer I use to mix a drop of my Clean and Clear Moisturizer with Stila’s Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer to thin it out a little more, so that it would be more lightweight for Summer. I wear a Medium in this product. Also purchased at Sephora.

My best friend was the one who turned me onto this product earlier this year and I have been using it nonstop since then! It is Philosophy’s The Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas spf 15. I just lightly brush this face powder across my face after I apply my tinted moisturizer and it just gives me an extra amount of coverage that lasts all through the day.  The powder evens out my skin tone perfectly without making it look very cakey or over powdered. I think the secret is that it has a great built in sponge, so it disperse the perfect amount of powder and applies it evenly across my face. It is a perfect all in one product! You don’t need to carry a separate brush or sponge around to apply it. I’ve been using it for months now and I still don’t need to replace it. It works perfectly with my Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer and I carry it with me ever where I go for when I need a quick touch up after a long day of work. It is my absolute MUST-HAVE beauty product!

My all time favorite blush would have to be the classic NARS Orgasm blush. It just gives me the perfect peachy glow. Especially nice during the Fall and Winter when my skin is more fair and I need to add more color to my face. I just need to apply a few very light stroke of the blush on the apples of my cheeks and it stays on all day. I’ve been using this product for a few years now and still think it is the perfect shade of peach for me.

A new favorite blush that I have been using lately is Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Pink Explosion. It is a very pretty shade of pink that gives me a nice rosey glow for when I want a more pink on my cheeks rather then my usual peach. I think Chanel always has nice shades of pink blushes to pick from and this one is great.

I don’t think I have to say much about this eyelash curler. It is the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I’ve been using it for the past five years and LOVE it! It curls my eyelashes perfectly and makes them look so nice and long.

I’ve tried so many mascaras over the past several years and have been using this one for the past year or two. It is the Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel Sophistique. I especially love the brush with this mascara. I think the bristles does a great job with applying a nice coat of mascara on each of my lashes without being clumpy. My eyelashes are pretty short and this mascara is great at making it them look so long and full. It is especially wonderful when I layer on a few coats. It makes my lashes look so long and sexy. Perfect for a night out.

I’ve been using this lip balm for the past six years. It is the Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve. It comes on really light against my lips and gives it a natural peach glow. I like to wear it by itself or underneath a lip stick or lip gloss, which I think helps makes the colors last longer. Very pretty and doesn’t dry out my lips.

Well I hoped you enjoyed reading this as much as I did  putting it together!
