New Mini Shopaholic Book!

One of my favorite author, Sophie Kinsella is releasing her newest book from “The Confessions of a Shopaholic” series. The book is titled “Mini Shopaholic” will be released in the US on September 21. You can pre-order your copy at Borders.  The newest book takes place two years after Rebecca Bloomwood has her daughter Minnie.

If you haven’t read “The Confessions of a Shopaholic” series yet, you should definitely pick it up. It’s a perfect read for any girl out there who loves fashion and comedy. You might have heard or seen “The Confessions of a Shopaholic” the movie. I didn’t really like the movie version of the story, but really loved Isla Fisher. I’ve read the series many years ago and didn’t think that Sophie Kinsella was going to continue writing any more books for the series. So I am beyond excited for this new book!

HERE IS A SYNOPSIS FROM THE NEW BOOK:

Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) thought motherhood would be a breeze and that having a daughter was a dream come true a shopping friend for life! But it s trickier than she thought two-year-old Minnie has a quite different approach to shopping.

She can create havoc everywhere from Harrods to Harvey Nicks to her own christening. She hires taxis at random, her favourite word is Mine , and she s even started bidding for designer bags on ebay.

On top of everything else, there s a big financial crisis. People are having to Cut Back including all of Becky s personal shopping clients and she and Luke are still living with Becky s Mum and Dad. To cheer everyone up, Becky decides to throw a surprise birthday party on a budget but then things become really complicated.

Beauty Essentials

We all have a list of essential  MUST-HAVE makeup in our makeup bag and today I would like to share mine. These are all of my favorite beauty products that I have been using for years and some are new favorites that I recently found. These products are perfect for girls who are on the go like me who don’t like to spend a lot of time getting ready and want to look fresh and pretty all through the day.

MOISTURIZER

My face is not very oily or dry, but I really like how supple and moisturized it feels whenever I wear moisturizer.  I put it on right after I get out of the shower and not only does it keep my face looking fresh throughout the day, but it also helps the rest of my makeup last longer. My favorite one is Clean and Clear Morning Burst Morning Glow Moisturizer. I find that this one in particular is the perfect consistency. It is not too think or oily. It just goes on very lightly and smooth. It instantly brightens my face and makes me feel more awake. I tried the other  Clean and Clear moisturizer called the Deep Action Cream Cleanser, but didn’t like how thick it is and how it dries. Another great thing about this product is that it is SPF 15. I think the MOST important beauty product ever is SUNSCREEN. You can never be too safe when it comes to protecting your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

TINTED MOISTURIZER

I wear two different kinds of tinted moisturizer throughout the year. Stila’s Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer w/SPF 15 during the  Spring and Summer and Stila’s Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer w/SPF 15 through Fall and Winter. As you can tell, I’m all about the moisturizer! I prefer the coverage of a tinted moisturizer for everyday wear over that of foundation. For some reason I find that every foundation that I have tried are all too thick and makes my face look like I have 10 pounds of makeup on. Which is not pretty at all. I like to look very natural. Unless I really need thick coverage, like for my wedding day or if I have a lot of blemishes to hide then I would use foundation, but otherwise I just stick to a tinted moisturizer. I think that it gives me just the right amount of coverage and color. It blends in and evens out my skin tone very well.

The Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer is perfect for Summer because it is more lightweight then the Color Tinted Moisturizer. During the hot days of Summer I like to wear the least amount of makeup as necessary. The last thing I want is having my face feel really thick and sticky from heavy makeup. It also has a little shimmer in it that helps brighten up your face. Just perfect for when your out and about in the summer. You don’t want to look like you are wearing a lot of makeup, you just want a nice summer glow! I wear Shade #1 and purchase it from Sephora.

Stila’s Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer is great because it provides me with more coverage and color during the months when I don’t get as much sun exposure, so I am more pale. It helps me imitate my nice summer glow during the cold Fall and Winter days of Minnesota. Before I discovered the Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer I use to mix a drop of my Clean and Clear Moisturizer with Stila’s Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer to thin it out a little more, so that it would be more lightweight for Summer. I wear a Medium in this product. Also purchased at Sephora.

FACE POWDER

My best friend was the one who turned me onto this product earlier this year and I have been using it nonstop since then! It is Philosophy’s The Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas spf 15. I just lightly brush this face powder across my face after I apply my tinted moisturizer and it just gives me an extra amount of coverage that lasts all through the day.  The powder evens out my skin tone perfectly without making it look very cakey or over powdered. I think the secret is that it has a great built in sponge, so it disperse the perfect amount of powder and applies it evenly across my face. It is a perfect all in one product! You don’t need to carry a separate brush or sponge around to apply it. I’ve been using it for months now and I still don’t need to replace it. It works perfectly with my Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer and I carry it with me ever where I go for when I need a quick touch up after a long day of work. It is my absolute MUST-HAVE beauty product!

BLUSH

My all time favorite blush would have to be the classic NARS Orgasm blush. It just gives me the perfect peachy glow. Especially nice during the Fall and Winter when my skin is more fair and I need to add more color to my face. I just need to apply a few very light stroke of the blush on the apples of my cheeks and it stays on all day. I’ve been using this product for a few years now and still think it is the perfect shade of peach for me.

A new favorite blush that I have been using lately is Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Pink Explosion. It is a very pretty shade of pink that gives me a nice rosey glow for when I want a more pink on my cheeks rather then my usual peach. I think Chanel always has nice shades of pink blushes to pick from and this one is great.

EYELASH CURLER

I don’t think I have to say much about this eyelash curler. It is the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I’ve been using it for the past five years and LOVE it! It curls my eyelashes perfectly and makes them look so nice and long.

MASCARA

I’ve tried so many mascaras over the past several years and have been using this one for the past year or two. It is the Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel Sophistique. I especially love the brush with this mascara. I think the bristles does a great job with applying a nice coat of mascara on each of my lashes without being clumpy. My eyelashes are pretty short and this mascara is great at making it them look so long and full. It is especially wonderful when I layer on a few coats. It makes my lashes look so long and sexy. Perfect for a night out.

LIP BALM

I’ve been using this lip balm for the past six years. It is the Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve. It comes on really light against my lips and gives it a natural peach glow. I like to wear it by itself or underneath a lip stick or lip gloss, which I think helps makes the colors last longer. Very pretty and doesn’t dry out my lips.

Well I hoped you enjoyed reading this as much as I did  putting it together!

Love,

K
